    Why You'll Love This Recipe

Sheet pan caramel apple slices are an easy, crowd-pleasing treat that’s perfect for holiday parties or family fun! (Great recipe to get the kids involved!)

They're topped with a generous drizzle of my homemade dairy-free caramel sauce which is made without corn syrup, artificial colors, or heavy cream.

From crunchy nuts and pretzels to chocolate chips and flakey sea salt, each apple slice can be customized for a delicious mix of flavors and textures.

Not only is it a healthier twist on a classic fall treat, but it’s also mess-free and convenient for serving at parties. (It's much easier to eat than traditional caramel apples!)

Plus, it's great for anyone with food allergies because it's gluten-free, dairy-free, and can easily be made nut-free.

    🍴Ingredient Notes

Ingredients measured out for sheet pan caramel apples.
    • Large Apples - I used a mix of Honeycrisp Apples and Granny Smith Apples. Any crisper variety will work great with this recipe.
    • Dairy Free Caramel - I used my homemade dairy-free caramel sauce recipe. You can also use my date caramel apple dip - you'll just need to spread it on with a knife.
    • Dark Chocolate Chips - A chopped chocolate bar will work too.
    • Raw Walnuts - You can also use peanuts, almonds, or pecans.
    • Gluten-Free Pretzels - Chop the pretzels so they're in smaller bite sized pieces and easy to sprinkle on the apples.
    • White Chocolate Chips - I used Pascha dairy-free mini white chocolate chips.

    Delicious Topping Ideas

The great part about this recipe is that you can customize with your favorite toppings!

You can also go crazy (like I did) and add a variety of toppings for different flavors and textures. Create 4-6 different sections on the sheet pan by sprinkling each topping on separate areas.

Feel free to enjoy with just some warm caramel and flakey sea salt for more of a classic caramel apple flavor.

Another option is to keep the toppings on the side so your guests to serve themselves.

    🍴Step by Step Instructions

    Step 1: Prepare Apple Slices

Start by washing and drying the apples. Then cut the apples into slices using a sharp knife or apple slicer.

Make sure they're not too thin so they can easily be picked up by a toothpick or fork.

Apple slices on a parchment paper lined baking sheet.

Step 2: Add Sliced Apples to Sheet Pan

Then, line a large baking sheet with parchment paper. Line up the apple slices until the entire sheet pan is covered.

Try not to overlap the slices too much so they get evenly covered with toppings.

Step 3: Add Caramel & Toppings

Drizzle the cooled caramel sauce on top of the apple slices followed by each topping.

I suggest picking 4 toppings and keep them separate so guests can choose what flavor they would like.

Keep chilled until you're ready to serve!

    Dairy Free Caramel Tips

    • If you're planning to make my dairy free caramel sauce, just know that the longer you simmer, the thicker and stickier it will become. I wish I had simmered mine for a little longer because it came out too thin which made it a bit messy to eat.
    • Let the caramel cool to room temperature before adding to the apples - especially if you're not planning to serve right away. It will also become more of a gooey caramel after it has been chilled in the refrigerator.

    Tips for Success

    • Add the raw nuts and pretzels on right before serving so they don't get soft or soggy on top of the caramel sauce.
    • Slice apples a little thicker so they're easy to pick up with a toothpick or fork.
    • Use an apple slicer to save on prep time!
    • To travel with this recipe, just cover the entire sheet pan with plastic wrap and keep it flat in the car.
    • Place the apples in a single layer on the baking sheet to ensure they're completely covered with the different toppings.
    • This might sound obvious, but do not peel the apples! The peel is full of fiber and nutrients, plus it adds flavor and texture to this dessert.

    How to Store Leftovers

Leftover caramel apple slices can be store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 3-4 days. I don't suggest freezing this recipe.
