    Why You'll Love This Recipe!

Avocado Pudding is a rich and chocolatey dessert made with only 5 simple ingredients! This easy no bake recipe takes about 10 minutes to make and all you need is a high-speed blender or food processer.

Not only is this decadent treat absolutely delicious, it's also a great source of healthy fats from the avocado and coconut milk. (And I promise there is no avocado flavor!)

Plus, this creamy chocolate pudding is dairy-free, gluten-free, egg-free, nut-free, and refined sugar free. It's the perfect healthy treat to satisfy your chocolate cravings!

    🍴Ingredient Notes

    Ingredients for gluten-free chocolate mousse.
    • Full Fat Coconut Milk - Do not swap for regular coconut milk in carton, almond milk, oat milk, or any other non-dairy milk. Full fat coconut milk helps to create the thick, creamy texture when it sets.
    • Avocado - You'll need 2 small ripe avocados or 1 medium sized avocado.
    • Raw Cacao Powder - You can swap for unsweetened cocoa powder.
    • Coconut Sugar - Any granulated sugar will work! You can also sub with Lakanto monkfruit for a sugar-free option.
    • Vanilla Extract - I love adding vanilla into all of my chocolate recipes! It helps to balance out the flavors.
    • Salt - You just need a pinch!

    Change the Sweetness

To make this recipe a little less sweet, use ⅓ cup of cacao powder, and ⅓ cup of coconut sugar.

I've made this recipe many times with these measurements and it's still delicious! It just has less of a rich chocolate flavor.

How to Pick the Perfect Avocado

Make sure the avocado is ripe. You can tell by giving the avocado a gentle squeeze - if it's slightly squishy you know it's ready.

Avoid using avocados that are not bright green or have brown spots. This will alter the flavor of your pudding.

    Expert Tips

    • Use a silicone or rubber spatula to scrape out the pudding from the blender or food processor. It's very thick and will not pour easily.
    • Stop the blender or food processor to scrape down the edges to ensure all ingredients are fully blended into the mousse. (You don't want sneaky chunks of avocado!)
    • Chill the pudding for at least 4 hours so it has time to thicken up. I also find the flavor is better after it chills!

    Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use a hand mixer to make chocolate pudding?

I would not recommend it. This dessert is best made in a high speed blender or food processor to ensure there are no avocado chunks.

Should I use the entire can of coconut milk?

Yes! You do not need to use just the thick part at the top. Dump the entire can into the blender with the rest of the ingredients. (No food waste!)

Can I use a liquid sweetener?

I have not tested this recipe with a liquid sweetener, but you can try ¼-1/3 cup of maple syrup or honey.

They are much sweeter than coconut sugar so taste test before adding more!

    Serving Suggestions

I prefer adding the chocolate pudding into small individual serving cups. You can use ceramic ramekins, fancy martini glasses, mini mason jars, or any small glass jars.

Top the pudding with chocolate shavings, fresh strawberry slices, fresh raspberries, or ripe banana slices.

I also use this recipe to make my Chocolate Trifle Cups which are layered with my Almond Flour Chocolate Cake or Gluten-Free Brownies, chocolate pudding, coconut whipped cream, and fresh fruit!

You can also use this recipe with my Raspberry Trifle Cups or my Healthy Halloween Dirt Cups!

    How to store leftovers

Leftovers should be stored in the refrigerator in an airtight container.

You can also cover individual servings with plastic wrap or a reusable wrap. They will last about 3-4 days in the refrigerator.
