    🍴Ingredient Notes

    Ingredients measured out for spicy chicken burgers.
    • Ground Chicken - You can use ground chicken, ground turkey, or even ground beef with this recipe! I personally love Butcher Box and Bell & Evans organic chicken products.
    • Diced Bell Pepper - Any sweet pepper will work with this recipe! If you want to kick up the spice a little more, try adding in a finely diced hot pepper.
    • Diced Sweet Onion - Red onion will also work with this recipe!
    • Olive Oil - You can also swap for avocado oil.
    • Seasoning -You'll need salt, cayenne pepper, and garlic powder. If you have garlic paste or fresh garlic, feel free to substitute about 1-2 teaspoons for the garlic powder.

    🍴Step by Step Instructions

    Step 1: Make Chicken Burger Mixture

    Start by adding all ingredients into a large mixing bowl. Stir together until ingredients are fully combined. For evenly cut vegetables use a Chop Wizard!

    Step 2: Making the Chicken Burger Patties

    Next, split the chicken mixture into five large balls. Place the ground chicken balls on a parchment paper lined plate or baking sheet. Press down into chicken patties.

    Step 3: Cook Chicken Burgers

    Spray the frying pan with a nonstick cooking spray or your preferred cooking oil. Place each chicken burger on the preheated pan. Cook for 5-6 minutes on medium high heat.

    Step 4: Flip Chicken Burgers

    Finally, flip the chicken burgers and cover the pan. Cook for an additional 8-10 minutes. (Or until the center is cooked through.)

    Serving Suggestions

    • For a more traditional burger, serve with gluten-free hamburger buns. Top with tomato slices, fresh lettuce, pickles, and red onion. You could even add a dairy-free slice of cheese!
    • These burgers would also taste delicious with my Homemade Spicy Sauce, Primal Kitchen Buffalo Sauce, Sugar-Free Ketchup, or Mayo.
    • For a lighter option, serve with a lettuce bun or lettuce wrap! Romaine lettuce or bib lettuce work great.
    • Spicy Chicken Burgers are also a great protein option for a salad!
    • And we can't forget the sides! Chicken Burgers pair well with Air Fried Fingerling Potatoes, Sautéed Sweet Potatoes, or Crispy Curry Fries!
    • If you're preparing these for kids, just make 10 smaller burger patties instead of 5 large ones. (They will cook much faster too!)

    Expert Tips

    • I used a large frying pan to cook these burgers, but I also love using my cast iron skillet!
    • You can also cook chicken burgers on an indoor or outdoor grill.
    • Mix all ingredients the night before to allow the flavors to marinate longer! This also saves on prep time the next day.
    • Use this recipe for meal prepping! Serve the burgers throughout the week for quick lunches.
    • If you don't have kitchen safe gloves, coat the palm of your hands with oil to prevent the meat from sticking to your hands when making the burger patties.
    • To make finely diced vegetables, use a Vegetable Chopper or Food Processor!

    How do I know the chicken burger is cooked through?

    Use a meat thermometer to check that the internal temperature is 165 degrees. Also, make sure you do not see pink meat when you cut the burger in half.

    Are chicken burgers healthier?

    If you're using quality meat, I believe both chicken, beef, and turkey burgers are all healthy options!

    How do I keep my burgers from drying out?

    I suggest covering the frying pan after you flip the burgers to steam them for a few minutes! This will ensure you have a juicy burger. It's also important to NOT overcook the chicken burgers.

    How to store leftovers

    You can store leftover chicken burgers in an airtight container. (I prefer glass containers.) They will stay fresh for about 4-5 days in the refrigerator.

    Chicken burgers can also be stored in the freezer! Place in an airtight bag or container. Freeze for about 2-3 months.
